So many pieces of music have been ridiculously over used in skating...West Side Story, Carmen, Tosca...there's quite a list.
There was one piece of music that a few skaters used in Vancouver at the Four Continents Cup that I will never, never get tired of. And it works so well with skating.
Here's a sample of Chris Botti's version of the main theme from Cinema Paradiso. Just gorgeous music!
Cinema Paradiso - Chris Botti
Or better yet...Itzhak Perlmans version...

agreed! that's the magic of ennio morricone. i waited a decade for skaters to start using "the mission" soundtrack. and, thankfully it was the brilliant and spiritual matt savoie who finally took it up (the yo-yo ma version), and then sav/sol from germany as well a few seasons later. GORGEOUS! i'll never understand why weir doesn't select something like that that has an opportunity to transform his skating into something really moving... not just surface pretty.
Right?!?!?! When Matt used that music, it was great. And I agree, this piece of music would be great for Johnny Weir.
These are both great versions but the one I love the most is by Josh Groban on his album titled Josh Groban.
Oh the Josh Groban version with the lyrics is just amazing too! I don't know if it's possible to fubar this piece of music!
Well, bless your hearts, but I regret to disagree with you. Yes, the music is fabulous, but Josh Groban? Honestly. My hair isn't blue enough to appreciate him, sorry. :)
