Good News?

Well, let's hope that we didn't scare people away with some odd judging...

Besides beating their own record for highest attendance at a U.S. Nationals ever, Spokane delivered another big win for NBC...the highest ratings since the 2003 Nationals in Dallas, Texas.

The Associated Press wrote:
Television coverage drew the most viewers since the 2003 championships. NBC Sports' final primetime rating for the ladies free skate drew a rating of 3.4, 26 percent higher than in 2009. The primetime broadcast of the Smucker's Skating Spectacular earned a 2.5 final rating, 150 percent higher than the 2009 event.
My only fear is that seeing how great the two weekend format was for ratings they may revisit again...I haven't heard many skaters being big fans of the format.

I can't remember where I read it but I'm pretty sure that the USFSU said that they were going back to the original format for the foreseeable future so unless NBC splits it up on their own, I don't see it happening again...

I don't think the two weekend format was a major factor in the ratings. I think NBC promoted it a bit more, plus the continual promotion of the Games and showing winter sports every Sunday had to factor a more in this year's ratings.
